Eberhard Schäfer (25 August 1924 – 9 April 1944) was a highly decorated Oberleutnant in the Luftwaffe during World War II, and a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Eberhard Schäfer was wounded on 6 April 1944 and died in a field hospital in Zamość, Poland. He was posthumously promoted to Oberleutnant and on 20 April 1944 was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
